Welcome to the West Chester Public Library

West Chester Public Library (West Chester, Pennsylvania) is a destination for connection, collaboration and enrichment through knowledge and community engagement.

WCPL goes Green, Monday, June 29, 2020

Starting Monday, June 29, 2020, 10am – we will be going Green, limited Green, but Green!

The West Chester Public Library will be open for you to come to pick up holds and do some browsing. We ask that everyone limit their time in the building to 30 minutes as we will be limiting the number of people in the building at any one time. Entrance will be via the main door (terrace); the Lafayette St door will be exit only. We also ask that everyone entering the building please wear a mask or face-covering – (very young children excepted) – for everyone’s health and safety.

Green Phase hours:
Mondays, 10:00am to 5:00pm
Tuesdays, 11:00am to 6:00pm
Wednesdays, 12:00pm to 7:00pm
Thursdays, 11:00am to 6:00pm
Fridays, 10:00am to 5:00pm
Saturdays, 10:00am to 2:00pm

As always, thank you for your understanding and patience. And, we DO look forward to seeing you in person, socially distanced, of course!

Please note – each library in the CC Library System will set their own opening date and hours.

Please continue to return materials in our book drop. For the health and safety of staff and our customers, we are quarantining all returned items for 72 hours before we check them in. When we do check in materials we will ensure that no fines remain on anyone’s record for those items.  Please follow Do’s and Don’ts outlined here to safely disinfect books at home.

Summer Reading 2020!… all virtual!

WCPL’s summer reading challenge for all ages is in full swing – find details at and on our Youth Services Facebook or main Facebook page! We will continue to provide information about databases, access to eMaterials, and a selection of virtual programming, as we did while we were unable to access the building. In addition, we have developed a thorough plan for eventual reopening of the building to the public to ensure the safety of staff and patrons.
